Fraternity and sorority pairs will perform choral-style productions as part of the annual Spring Sing competition.
Spring Sing 2014 will be held in Gallagher-Iba arena in April on a date to be announced. Money raised through ticket sales will benefit Coaches v. Cancer, a nonprofit organization that raises money for cancer through the good will of college coaches.
“Spring Sing is typically the last competitive event of the year for fraternities and sororities at OSU,” Caitlin Pastor, 2009 executive director said. “Thousands of friends and family members show up to watch, and we use this opportunity to give to a deserving cause.”
The Spring Sing executive committee has announced the 2013 theme will feature the music of: Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion. "Piano Men: The Music of Billy Joel and Elton John" was the 2012 theme. Other past themes have been "We Will Rock You" and "Sweet Emotion."
Each production will last about six minutes. Groups use the theme to create their own unique story line. Group acts are judged on musicality, theme originality, costumes and choreography. The top five acts will receive awards.
Tickets to the event will be $10 in advance. Advanced ticket sales will be announced soon. They can be purchased at the door for $12 the day of the performance.
